Cambodia

Kingdom of Wonder

The past few years Cambodia has gone through tremendous development. Angkor has become a world class attraction and is nearly on everyone’s bucket list. Infrastructure has developed and has opened up more comfortable travel to all parts of the country. Not many people venture further than the beaten paths of Angkor. We however have explored all corners of the country and love the north and east of Cambodia. Saddle up and cycle the countryside, jump aboard a fisherman’s boat and explore the Mekong, hike over the hills to viewpoints unknown to the even most seasoned travelers. Bespoke Laos has developed a number of programs that will blow you away!

Mekong River Adventures in Cambodia

Start exploring the Cambodian culture where it is famous for: Angkor Wat. Together with Bespoke Laos you will explore the temples away from the crowds. Follow paths through the jungle leading to hidden marvels very few people know about.

The journey continues to the north of Cambodia where one of the most dramatic temples in Southeast Asia is located; Preah Vihear. From there you head for the Mekong River and experience authentic river life in the best way possible. Stay at traditional lodges, explore deserted islands and observe rare birds from your kayak at sunset. You cycle and hike through along the Mekong, meeting the local people and taking in powerful waterfalls. Of course, an attempt to spot the almost extinct Mekong dolphin cannot be excluded! Visit Koh Trong, which is home to one of Cambodia’s most amazing community based tourism projects and a stay on this island that simply takes you back 60 years.

See more wildlife in Mondulkiri and join a jungle hike in search for elephants. Just a few hours away you find the thundering waterfalls of Mondulkiri and indigenous tribes with their special houses. Together with your guide you will bike around the hills of Mondulkiri through pine forests.

Finish this amazing trip with a visit to the capital: Phnom Penh. Get into a tuktuk and together with your guide you walk the back alleys of the city. You venture deeper into the alleyways where colonial French architecture hides, local delicacies are baked and little temples with talkative monks give you a great insight into Buddhist life. End your visit to Cambodia with a wonderful cycling excursion through the paddy fields of Kampong Chhnang. Endless green paddy fields with their iconic palm trees, local villages and green hills surround the landscape. And surely enough; you will be all by yourself!
